Install and Open ShadowExplorer¶
Use an isolated, authorised Windows VM. Record the download source, filename, version, retrieval time and SHA-256 before execution.
Retrieve and stage¶
Download the installer from the ShadowExplorer download page, verify it according to local procedure, and stage it under C:\Tools\ShadowExplorer.
Launch the verified installer and approve User Account Control only on the authorised host.
Satisfy the Windows dependency¶
Select the documented language. If Windows requests .NET Framework 3.5, record the prompt and install it through the approved Windows feature workflow.
Record the dependency
Note whether .NET 3.5 was already present or installed, its Windows source, completion state and any restart. This is part of tool provenance.
Install ShadowExplorer¶
Continue through the setup wizard, review the licence and destination, retain only approved shortcut choices, then install.
Verify and organise¶
Open shortcut properties and record the resolved executable path, shown in the
supplied procedure as C:\Program Files (x86)\ShadowExplorer\ShadowExplorer.exe.
Move only the shortcut, not the installed executable, into the SUSA tool area.
Launch it and confirm the volume, snapshot and details controls render without an error.
Do not create or delete snapshots for this exercise
Installation authorises tool setup only. Preserve existing VSS state and record any unavoidable live-system changes.
