What SafariHistoryView does

Guided SUSA tool journey

SafariHistoryView supports browser forensics. In this guide, you will use it to reconstruct a short Safari visit sequence from supplied history data. The procedure and screenshots provide the practical reference; the surrounding context explains what to record and how to judge the result.

Tool guide at a glance

Investigation task

Reconstruct a short Safari visit sequence from supplied history data.

Starting material

A copied training browser profile or supplied browser artefact set.

Successful outcome

A browser observation linked to profile, source artefact, time context, and corroborating evidence.

Evidence and safety

Use copied profiles. Do not open recovered links or downloads on the analyst workstation. Record the input identifier, tool version, relevant commands or settings, time and time zone, output location, and any errors or limitations as you work.

How the labs complement this guide

The Interactive Lab is a safe browser simulation for practising the workflow and validation logic. The Full Lab is an independent exercise for an isolated, authorised environment. Confirm the installed tool version and expected output before relying on either exercise in a real case.

Accessing SafariHistoryView in SUSA

SafariHistoryView is a simple utility for Windows that reads and parses the history file of Safari Web browser (history.plist) and displays the browsing history in a simple table.

Work from a copied Safari history file and retain the source platform, user profile and time-zone context. Parsed entries are browsing leads; validate important URLs and times against the original property list and related browser or system artefacts.
